If the broken piece can be removed, remove it. If it cannot be easily removed, cover it with a cotton ball, gauze or dental wax to avoid injury to the mouth and surrounding tissue. Do not touch the root of the tooth. Handle it by its crown (the top part). Gently rinse the tooth and try to reinsert it in its socket. Keep it in place by gently biting on a gauze or clean cloth. If you cannot put the tooth back in your mouth, put it in a cup of milk. In any case see your dentist immediately. You have only about 30 to 1 hour minutes to save the tooth.
